
Sheridan County is located in the extreme northeast corner of Montana with
Plentywood serving as it's county seat. Adjacent Counties are Daniels County
to the west, Roosevelt County, south, Williams & Divide County's in North
Dakota to the east. The Canadian province of Saskatchewan borders Sheridan
County to the north.

Demographics
Sheridan County has a total area of 1,706 square miles, 1677 of it is land and 30 square miles, or 1.74% is water. However, it's
population has been shrinking over the past 40 years by about 10% per year and from 2001 to 2005 it had the second largest percentage
of decline in school enrollment in the state at 20%.
According to the 2006 census, there were 3447 people (down 16% since 2000), 1,741 households, and 1,140 families residing in the

Out of the 1,741 households 27% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.5% were married couples living together, 4.80%
had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.5% were non-families. 32.30% of all households were made up of
individuals and 16.60% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the
average family size was 2.87.
In the county the population was spread out with 22.90% under the age of 18, 4.80% from 18 to 24, 22.20% from 25 to 44, 26.50% from 45
to 64, and 23.60% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 98.70 males. For
every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.80 males.
The median income for a household in the county was $29,518, and the median income for a family was $35,345. Males had a median
income of $23,053 versus $20,112 for females. The per capita income for the county was $16,038. About 10.60% of families and 14.70%
of the population were below the poverty line, including 16.40% of those under age 18 and 15.80% of those age 65 or over.
