Carla Knudson
Funeral services for Carla Knudson will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, January 28, 2008. Pastor Chansy
Charles will officiate at the service at the Plentywood Lutheran Church; interment will be in the Scobey
City Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Joey Chandler, Truman Hackmann, Darrin and Rocky Nelson, Alan
Nordhagen, and Jerry Wood; ushers will be Susie Morstad and Grace McClymont. Carla, 49, died of
cancer just before noon Wednesday, January 23 at Billings Clinic.
Carla was born September 7, 1958 at Scobey, third of ten children of Vernon and Carol (Hackmann)
Fester. The family lived in several communities in northeastern Montana and in Iowa before settling in
Plentywood. Carla attended school in Scobey and in Plentywood through the 8th grade. She was
baptized at the Scobey Lutheran Church. Carla began working as a housekeeper, first at the Plains Motel
in Plentywood. She later lived for a few years near Weyburn, Saskatchewan, then returned to Plentywood,
where she has lived since.
Always fun-loving and ready for anything, Carla always thought of others’ needs before her own. She
loved Christmas giving, and lived the idea that “it’s the thought that counts” – she remembered everyone,
with something. She loved to cook (and created some adventures along the way!) And visits to her home
always involved a feast and a game of 6-5-4. She lived on the

telephone, calling friends and family on what seemed like a definite schedule; and would visit for hours if she had a chance. A practical jokester,
people were never sure whether she enjoyed it more when she tricked others, or when they tricked her!
Carla is survived by five children: Trisha and her husband Pat Greff, of Redstone; Shane and his wife Stefanie Kelly, of Plentywood; Sara Tombre, of
Glendive, Montana; and a daughter and a son. She is also survived by 7 of her 8 siblings: Vernon Fester, Jr, who lives in Idaho; Rick, Allen, and
Raymond Fester, all of Miles City; Marla and her husband Alan Nordhagen, of Westby; Brenda Howell, of White Sulphur Springs, Montana; and
Sandie Fester and her fiancee Truman Hackmann, of Plentywood.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Ron and Jerry. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.
