Saturday morning, February 9 at Billings Clinic; he was 74.

Gilbert was born March 1, 1933 in Plentywood, the 10th of 12 children of Joseph and Florence (Jordan)
Marsh. He attended the Marsh, Dooley and Plentywood schools, and spent his early years working on
the family farm northeast of Plentywood. After he left the farm, he spent several years working for various
companies building roads and bridges; and spent two years with his own custom combine, traveling
from the southern states to northern Saskatchewan. He then returned to Plentywood to start his own
cement contracting business, and later worked as a custodian at the Plentywood school for 14 years
until retirement in 1994.
. . . . in Memory of . . . .
Gil married Margaret Mann of Roche Percee, Saskatchewan February 19, 1966 at Plentywood. Their family became complete with the
adoption of their daughter, Robie Lee in 1969. Margaret passed away from cancer January 12, 1988. Gil married Bev Howard at Minton
Saskatchewan September 21, 1991; they have made their home in Plentywood since. For the last 13 years, Gil battled various illnesses,
but remained cheerful despite all his medical problems. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Gil’s family was the first priority in his life, and he was never happier than when he was  spending time with them. He was an avid
sportsman, hunting and fishing throughout Montana, in Saskatchewan, and in Alaska. He was instantly comfortable with anyone he met,
no matter their walk or station in life; and loved to visit, and tell stories.  As his health declined, he stayed as active as he could; and,
although he was largely disabled by then, he took a nice buck this last fall.  He hated to “be a bother” to anyone, and was gratified that
people so cheerfully went out of their way to help him in so many ways. Even though he was retired – and later disabled – he always kept
up with any construction projects in the area ... and usually knew a “better way” to get it done!

Gil is survived by his wife, Bev, of Plentywood; his daughter, Robie Lee Hickman and her husband B.J. of Billings; and by four
grandchildren: Andrew Hickman, stationed with the US Army at Fort Irwin, California; Kaitlin Hickman, attending North Dakota State
College of Science in Wahpeton, North Dakota; and Lea and Justin Hickman at home in Billings; and by four of his 11 siblings: Steve
Marsh, of Medford, Oklahoma; Dave Marsh and his wife Florence, of Plentywood; Edith Wilson and her husband Duane, of Raymond,
Montana; and Celia LaCoste and her husband Darrel, of Minton, Saskatchewan. Besides his parents and wife Margaret, he was
preceded in death by sisters and brothers-in-law, Iling (Pete) Goltz; Louella (Don) Blair; Mae (Ed) Hark, Celestia Marsh, his brothers
Robert, Valentine, and Kermit Marsh, and sister-in-law Betty (Mrs. Steve) Marsh.
