Casketbearers will be her grandchildren: Carey, Michael, Terry & Sharon, and Rick Borah; Courtenay
Kirschner, and Sean Webster. All of her "LaCasa family" are recognized as Honorary Bearers; and Ushers will
be Gordie and Jan French.  Irene, 90, died at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood Sunday evening,
January 6, after she collapsed at  home at La Casa Personal Care.

Irene was born July 23, 1917 at Hanska, Minnesota, the daughter of Ole S. And Ida (Strand) Olson. She grew
up in the Hanska community and married Alfred J. Johnson there in 1939. They moved to Plentywood in 1945.
Irene separated from Alfred in the early 1950's; she worked as a waitress at The City Cafe and the Elgin Cafe,
and later as a clerk at Johnston Drug. She married Alvin Marsh October 30, 1978 at the United Methodist
Church in Plentywood – a “private” ceremony, but attended by a large crowd of their friends! They made their
home on Alvin’s farm south of Redstone, and deeply enjoyed their life together. Alvin farmed, and together
they raised vegetable and flower gardens, kept up the place,  and entertained family and friends.  They
traveled frequently, visiting New York, California, Minnesota, Washington, and places in Canada  by plane,
train and automobile! Irene loved to bake cookies, played the accordion, and enjoyed
. . . . in Memory of . . . .
crossword puzzles and playing Whist ... just for fun, even though somebody always seemed to keep score!  Irene, a tiny, neat person, always made
sure her hair was “just so.” They moved to Plentywood after Alvin was injured in a fall in 1993. After his death November 4, 2002, Irene moved to
LaCasa, which has become home with her special family there.

Irene is survived by two daughters, Colleen Borah and her husband Dale, of Plentywood; and Judy Webster and her husband Bill, of Fanwood, New
Jersey. Six grandchildren survive: Michael (“Mick”) Borah and his wife, Patty; Terry Borah and his wife Sharon;   Carey Borah and his wife Megan, and
Rick Borah.  Sean Webster and his wife, Elena; and Courtenay Kirschner; and her husband, Rick;  as do numerous great-  and great-great-
grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Mae Laingen, of Madelia, Minnesota.  Besides Alvin and her parents, she was preceded in death by
two brothers,  Paul and Art Olson and by a sister, Evelyn Bakken.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.

such a nice lady who was always smiling.  She raised two nice girls which is a wonderful reflection on her as a
mother.
