Judy Jensen
Memorial services for Judith C. Jensen “Judy” will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 14. Pastor
Johnette Grefe will officiate at the service at the Volmer Lutheran Church; private interment of
cremated remains will take place later. Urn Bearer will be Dana Sorensen; ushers will be Dennis
Hansen and Gordon Rasmussen. Judy died Saturday morning, January 5 at Billings Clinic; she was
67.
Judy was born May 1, 1940 at Scobey, Montana, the daughter of Ormand and Claire (Harvick) Paus.
She grew up there, graduated from Scobey High School and from the University of North Dakota at
Grand Forks, and taught for two years at Billings West High School. She was a camp counselor at
Brush Lake Bible Camp, when one day she and another counselor were out on the lake in a rowboat
... and Elliott Jensen pulled up in his ski boat to visit. They dated for several years, visiting between
Scobey, Grand Forks and Billings, and were married in Scobey July 19, 1964. They made their home
in Watford City, where they ran the bowling alley and Judy worked as a bookkeeper for the Great
Plains Supply and other local businesses, and later worked for the Social Services Office. They
moved to Dagmar to take over Elliott’s family’s farm in 1983, where they have lived since. Her friend
Carol Justice asked her to stop by the Justice Trucking company's office in Dagmar one day to help
her with a typewriter malfunction and Judy stayed to work for Vern and Carole for several fun years!
Judy loved to raise her large vegetable garden and put up her produce; she played golf, enjoyed fishing (especially at Lake Sakakawea
while they lived in Watford City), and played piano. Even though she and El maintained their Lutheran church membership in Watford City,
Judy was active in the Volmer WELCA. She took pride in her home, but people were the center of her life. She always kept up with her wide
circle of friends, and was known for her sense of what was “right” in any situation.
Judy is survived by her husband, Elliott, of Dagmar; and by cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements.
