Michelle ("Mickey") McCoy Higginson
The Funeral Liturgy for Michelle ("Mickey") McCoy Higginson was held at 10:00 AM Monday, February 18.
Father Marcel Vogel celebrated the Liturgy at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plentywood; a vigil was held at
7:00 PM Sunday at Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Plentywood. Interment was in Plentywood Memorial
Cemetery; members of the Plentywood Council of the Knights of Columbus swerved as greeters, crucifer,
cantor, and caksetbearers. Mickey died of cancer Thursday morning, February 14, at Sheridan Memorial
Hospital in Plentywood; she was 59.
Mickey was born August 14, 1948 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Dick and Cleo (Smith) McCoy.
She graduated from Plentywood High School in 1966. She moved with her family to Roosevelt, Utah where
she worked for the Ute Tribe for a time, worked as a program manager in group homes, and also tended
bar. She met Jerry Higginson there; they have been together since, and were married at Plentywood May 7,
1994. They lived in Medicine Lake for a time, then moved to Plentywood, where they have lived since. Her
family remembers her sense of humor – she loved to tease, and act goofy! She enjoyed baking yummy
sour cream cookies; and loved to go fishing and camping ... highlights included an 11 pound Northern at
Medicine Lake!

I remember Mickey as a fun person to be around. She was a former classmate. I talked with her during a
Plentywood visit some time ago and was delighted to see her after so many years. My condolences to her family.

While I didn't know Mickey very well, I practically lived at Richelle's house in Medicine Lake in High School. My
thoughts and prayers are with the family.
