Sheridan County will be celebrating several milestone events over the next four years.
The question many have is, "will it be the last hurrah?"

At the rate Eastern Montana is losing population, and with the
unpredictable economy, 2012 could very well be the tipping point
where a declining and aging population finally can't sustain the local
    economy.

With respect to those who are trying to develop and promote
economic opportunities, there has never been a real serious
marketing campaign to do something about it at any level. Maybe
nothing can be done and this is just a natural evolution pattern.
However, if a serious effort isn't made, and soon, to find out we'll
    never know.

    Why Not Here?
We're betting it won't be the last hurrah and feel there is opportunity
in this corner of the world. It just hasn't been discovered yet. The
entire country is re-inventing their economies around the green
movement, renewable energy and other 21st century technologies.
Why not here? Resources are all around us and the infrastructure is
    in place.

We'll be doing our part to find solutions and opportunities by teaming up with the
business community and various state agencies to promote a variety of events over the
next four years and we're starting the countdown NOW and using the  Sheridan County
Centennial celebrations to find out if it's evolution, or lack of effort.

However, we can't do it alone and are counting on your support! How?

THE PLAN

    CENTENNIAL DANCE TEAM
One of the first promotional projects will be to
organize the Centennial Dance Team. They will be
comprised of local talent and serve as public
relation ambassadors to help promote the entire
    Discover Eastern Montana, Centennial Countdown
project. They will perform at a variety of functions
including trade shows, fairs, fashion shows, expos
and fundraisers, locally and around the state. All
women who enjoy entertaining and would like to
learn line dancing, chorus/cancan type routines
and perform skits are invited. Part of the duties of
the team will be to host the weekly Centennial
information mixers at the Gold Dollar in Plentywood.

CENTENNIAL INFORMATION MIXERS
Social communications is key to the promotion. The information mixers will be held every Friday
(unless otherwise scheduled) in the Gold Dollar banquet room from 5:30 to 8:00 PM. They will serve
as the time and place to inquiry about the promotions, pickup event information, sign up as a volunteer,
register for events, mix and mingle. The dance team auditions will continue, plus a search for local
musicians, comedians, actors and other talent will be a regular feature. Everyone is welcome! There
are no fees, meetings, or obligations to attend. Just show up, kick back and have some fun! Enjoy free
hors d' oeuvres and happy hour priced drinks.

WEEKEND LIVE MUSIC, DANCING, LESSONS and MORE
Plans to have weekend live music, dancing, lessons, contests and other musical entertainment,
standup comedy and dinner theaters are part of the overall plans as the promotion unfolds.

THEMED  EVENTS
Themed events such as Halloween, St. Patrick's, Valentine's, Oktoberfest etc. will be promoted as
major events with supporting activities. Outdoor concerts, motorcycle rallies, health, fitness and job
expos, festivals, farmers markets and a variety of sporting event possibilities will be explored and
promoted.

We hope all Sheridan County businesses, residents, students, former residents and alumni support
and get involved with this promotion, because the upside is that jobs and other economic
opportunities will evolve. It might even attract former residents and others to relocate here. We'll never
know until the effort is made. But if something isn't done, then it very well may be the last hurrah.
