Gretha Yeager

A Memorial Service for Gretha Spoklie Yeager will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 10,
2008 at Fulkerson Memorial Funeral Chapel in Plentywood.  Pastor Ron Martin-Dent will

died at Sheridan Memorial Hospital in Plentywood on Monday, October 6th.

Gretha was born June 8, 1926 in Minot, North Dakota, a daughter of Albert and Gladys
Spoklie.  She grew up on a farm near Coalridge during the "dirty thirties" and remembered
those times very well.  She attended the Coalridge Community School and Antelope High
School for a year and a half, and graduated from Plentywood High in 1944.  She later
attended nursing school in Rugby, North Dakota and took classes at Minot State Teachers
College until the fall of 1947, when she married Vernon Yeager of Antelope, Montana.  They
began their married life of over 50 years  on October 4, 1947 in the Emmaus Lutheran
Church near Westby, where Gretha had been confirmed in September of 1939. Gretha and
Vern lived in Grand Forks, North Dakota for sixteen years .   They also lived in St. Louis,
Missouri and three years in Bangkok, Thailand.   While in Thailand they enjoyed traveling  to
many countries in Europe and Asia.  In 1971 they returned to St. Louis where  Gretha worked
    at Cardinal Glennon Hospital.

She later worked at the medical school bookstore, but mostly chose to be a mother and home maker, which was her first love. Gertha
will be remembered by her family for her dedication in her role of mother. She was involved in Womens Guild, scouting and church
activities.  She loved flea markets and garage sales and shopping in general.  She enjoyed world travel, rides in the country and carried
on many long time correspondences.    Gretha also enjoyed baking and crafts, which she would give to other people.

Gretha is survived by her children: Thomas Yeager of St. Louis, Missouri, Donna Schuh and her husband Ron, of Marquand, Missouri,
Susan Yeager of Lake Worth, Florida and Robin Yeager of St. Louis, Missouri. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Carrie Schuh,
Ronnie Schuh and Rose Ossenfort and six great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her brother Robert Spoklie of Kalispell.
She is also survived by a special friend, Eddie Heisler of Raymond.   Gretha is also survived by her former husband Dr. Vernon L. Yeager
of Marquand, Missouri.  Gretha is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Gladys Spoklie and a brother Howard.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge of arrangements.

Remembering Gretha
We remember Gretha so fondly from our years in Thailand where we both attended Church with our families.  Except for the last few
years, we always kept in touch at Christmas time and she would keep me up-to-date on how everyone was doing.  She was such a
wonderful lady and we will always remember the kindness she & Vern showed us when our family was involved in a terrible auto
accident in Thailand.  We have not heard from Vern in the last two years and this year our Christmas card was returned "Undeliverable"
so decided to try to look him up on the internet and that is how we found out about of Gretha's death.

We extend our deepest sympathy to her family.
