    Alice Snellman

    A funeral  for Alice Snellman will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 1:30 P.M.  at
    Fulkerson Memorial Chapel in Plentywood.  Burial will be at the Grandview Church of the
    Brethren Church Cemetery, near Froid, Montana.   Pastor Johnette Grefe will officiate.  Alice,
    92, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2009 in Minot, North Dakota from complications
    following hip surgery.

    She was born to George A. and Alice (Haines) Richwine on her mother's homestead east of
    Froid on August 22, 1916.  She was baptized at the Grandview Church of the Brethren on
    October 29, 1929.

    Alice graduated from Froid High School in 1934.  After graduation she attended Northern
    Montana College in Havre, Montana where she received her teaching certificate.  She taught
    at the Enterprise School in rural Roosevelt County and also other rural schools in Montana.

    Alice married Herbert J. Snellman on February 7, 1938.  To this union two daughters, Beverly
    and Patricia, were born.  She and Herb were divorced in 1950.

During World War II Alice worked in Civilian Personnel at Gore Hill near Great Falls, Montana.  In 1955 she received her BS Degree from
Northern Montana College in Havre and taught school in Montana, Washington and Arizona.  

In 1960 she received her ASCP in Medical Technology from Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.  She worked as a med tech in
Colorado, Arizona, Oregon and California.

After retiring, Alice enjoyed traveling with her camp trailer around the United States.  She also enjoyed crafts, painting, ceramics and
reading.  Five years ago Alice moved to Plentywood; living four years at Montana Pioneer Manor and the last eight months at LaCasa
Personal Care.

Alice is survived by her two daughters; Beverly (Kenneth) Christensen and Patricia Piper, both of Reserve, Montana; four grandchildren,
Jerald Christensen of Kennewick, Washington, David Christensen of Pasco, Washington, Lissa Piper of Portland, Oregon, and Tyrel
(Lori) Piper of Marysville, California; five great-grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Calvin and sister Lola McCauley.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge of arrangements.
