Dagny was born on May 6, 1912 in Outlook Montana a daughter of Ole and Martina (Wagnild) Wold. She was baptized and confirmed at Plentywood Bench Lutheran Church. She attended country schools, Outlook High School and graduated from Plentywood High School in 1929. She earned a teaching certificate from Minot State Teachers' College and taught in this area before going to Chicago. Living in the heart of Chicago was a whole new ball game for her.
Being young and adventuresome, she loved it. After graduating from the Moody Bible Institute, she went to Edison Park on Chicago's northwest side to teach kindergarten, religious classes, and direct the choir at Lutheran Children's Home. With her strong faith in God, she shared that love with her students, which left a strong Christian influence among them. There were about 20 junior high and high school girls in the choir, and once a month they sang at Edison Park Lutheran Church. The choir also sang at numerous churches in the Chicago area and other Chicago social events. While the girls were usually relaxed, their director, Dagny, could sometimes be very "uptight". On occasion she would hear, "Don't worry, Miss Wold, we'll come through for you." And they usually did.
After nine years, Dagny returned to teach in Plentywood and Antelope. These were good years for Dagny. She liked to walk into her classroom, close the door behind her and say to herself, "This is my domain. Let me see what I can do with it."
After retirement, Dagny loved to travel, taking two trips to Scandinavian countries, and visited many states, including Hawaii. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include her sister Myrtle Waller of Plentywood, her nieces and nephews Bernie (Peggy) Wold, Norman (Sally) Wold, Natalie (Dr. David) Schneider, Clarice (David) Tilleraas and Gaylin (Charlene) Waller. Also surviving are numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Gladys, brother Orville and sister-in-law Muriel Wold, brother-in-law Clifford Waller and grand niece Kristi Tilleraas, grand nephew Erick Wold and great grand nephew Jace Wold.
Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge of arrangements.

Remembering Dagny
It's been a 'number' of years ago now, but we sang in church choir together. She was always a lady. Our condolences to her family.

Dagny was my mother's cousin, a favorite in our family. One you could always depend on for wisdom, optimism, humor and support. When I decided to go into teaching, she arranged a visit to a classroom in the Plentywood School. When I went to Norway, she put me in touch with relatives there. She was also a great resource for my family history research and I always enjoyed visiting with her on my trips to Plentywood. Thank you Dagny for all you did to enrich my life.
