Louise Nelson

The funeral Liturgy will be celebrated for Louise Faye Nelson, 68, on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 10:30
A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Plentywood.   There will be no Vigil.  Father Marcel Vogel will
officiate the Mass and burial at Plentywood Memorial Cemetery.

Louise was born to Martha and Lester Nelson on January 30, 1941.  From the moment of her birth
they knew that she would always have special needs.  She was raised on the family farm and
started school in Plentywood.  However, the schools at that time weren't equipped to teach special
needs children, so Louise spent most of her teenage years attending a boarding school at Boulder,
Montana for the developmentally disabled.  She attended school for the winter months, coming
home for holidays and summers.  When Louise had reached her potential there, she came home
    to stay on the farm.

The winds of change came for the developmentally disabled in this area with Glenwood
Incorporated, starting in 1976.  Louise began going to Glenwood right away; first as a day student
and later began staying all week and going home to the farm on weekends.  As her parents aged,
she began staying at Glenwood all of the time and going out to the farm for visits.  Glenwood
    became her home.

Louise grew and blossomed with the guidance of the staff at Glenwood.  Her days were filled with love and activities at the center.  A
highlight was when she finally got her own "apartment" at Glenwood and she was so thrilled with her independence.  She had such joy
showing everyone her place.  Louise was able to travel many times with family and friends.  Her "trip of a lifetime" was when she was
able to go to Graceland and see Elvis's home.  Summer camp was another favorite activity.

Louise loved to "make a deal" with her friends and family.  The deals often were in her favor and her family was happy to oblige.  Louise
was a competitor and loved to win whether at a card game, bowling or in the Special Olympics.

Louise was thrilled to become a member of St. Joseph  Catholic Church and was baptized on September 14, 1996.  Barb and Paul
Golterman were her sponsors and she loved to attend mass with them.

Louise loved the holidays, especially her birthday and she had many favorite traditions, including presents and pumpkin pie.  Louise's
kind heart was evident to all around her and she was filled with delight whenever she held a puppy, kitten or bunny.

In her last years, as her health declined, she entered the Nursing Home.  She was a very special member of that community and got a
little "extra special" care from her loving niece Kim Sebastian.

Louise passed on to live with her beloved parents and the Lord on March 31st, 2009.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha
and Lester Nelson, brother Leonard Nelson, and sister Evelyn Dart.  She is survived by her sisters:   Inus Rohener of Newport,
Washington, Jackie Mackie and her husband Jim of Yakima, Washington and Ardelle Hart and her husband Ken of Outlook, Montana
and many nieces, nephews, cousins and great nephews and nieces.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood is in charge of arrangements.

Remembering Louise
It has been a long time since I saw Louise but I remember her so well as she was our neighbor to the north. She always had a bright
sunny smile & a giggle. She helped our Mom, ironing by the hour. Thanks Louise!

Well, God speed neighbor girl.  We enjoyed visits with Louise and mom especially loved when she came and ironed everything in sight.
